John Kefuss lives in France, where I met him in 2009, and is well known for developing the “Bond test” as a strategy for selecting for resistance to Varroa mites in honey bees. This “Live or Let Die” method taken from the movie of the same name has garnered a lot of attention from beekeepers and researchers alike. It incorporates apicentric beekeeping in many respects, letting the bees literally “bee” themselves. It is possible to hear much of this philosophy from the man himself, advocating what can be called “black hole beekeeping” at the “treatment-free” podcast, published April 18, 2017, 61 minutes long.
